We’d like to welcome Michel Leveille to our coaching staff! Michel will be our 18U Head Coach, Junior Asst. Coach, Youth Skills Director, and Asst. Coaching Director!

French- Canadian, born and raised in Levis, Quebec. After graduating from high school, he played 2 years at the Cegep Levis-Lauzon,  before heading in 2000 to the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) for two years in order to learn English as a second language.

After two successful years playing in Nanaimo B. C., he earned a full scholarship from the University of Maine. Redshirting his first year due to language barrier, I bounced back and had an impact right away for the Blackbears. In his first year, he was named rookie of the year.  He went on to be a captain for the next three years, helping the team make it to the Frozen four three times in four years.

He also earned All-American honors for 3 years, and was chosen to the All-Academic team for 4 years.

He went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication, Public Relations minor, Business minor, and Child Development minor.

After graduating from UMaine in 2007,  Michel went on to pursue a professional hockey career for the next 8 years. He played two years in the AHL for the Toronto Marlies and the Manchester Monarchs, two years in the ECHL for the Charlotte Checkers, three years in the second pro league in Germany for the Heilbronner Falkens, and finished his career playing one year at home for the CoolFm de St-Georges in the LNAH in Quebec.

In 2014, after officially retiring from the game, Michel went on to work for two years as a head coach at the North American Hockey Academy (NAHA), developing high school level players in preparation for playing at the highest College and Olympic levels.

Currently living in Portland since June of 2016, his wife Holli, daughter Julianne and Michel are excited to come back home, closer to friends and family, and build lots of memories.

"Michel brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the Wild youth and junior programs. His on-ice presence as Youth Skills Director will be a great asset to our program and a benefit to our young players development.” - Brad Church, Maine Wild Youth Hockey, Director of Operations

"I have always been passionate about the game of hockey, and I am very excited to join the Maine Wild organization.  I am looking forward the opportunity to work alongside Brad, the staff and the coaches. Brad brings tremendous knowledge and experience in all aspects of the game of hockey from players, players development, demographics, and management. One thing I learned as a player is to have fun, work hard while respecting the game and the process. As a young coach, I try to provide and bring the same competitive environment, and I’m excited to be joining a young organization with a staff that strives to build a stronger program for the kids." -Michel Leveille

Welcome to the Maine Wild and The Hockey Academy Family Michel!
